PSSQ Postscript Squish

pssq is a script which utilises properties of postscript to allow one to easily squish a technical paper into a prescribed page limit.

You need perl, latex, dvips and the kpathsea environment properly configured to call metafont for it to work. Standard latex installations on Linux machines have all of these tools. We have also successfully tested the tool with CYGWIN.

Update: Due to an increased popularity of PDF format for paper submission, we have updated the tool to handle PDF files.

Here are some examples of its use.

Original nips style file. Output is a little over 8 pages.
Squished to be exactly 8 pages.
Squished to be exactly 7 pages.
Squished to be exactly 6 pages.
Squished to be exactly 9 pages.
